Over 2,000 people gathered at Sunway Convention Center in Kuala Lumpur for the three-day Emerge Youth Conference organized by City Harvest Church KL, from 29 August to 31 August 2008.
The opening night started with spectacular cheerleading routines in the Parade of Schools competition. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the youth cheered their hearts out for their campuses. The excitement of the night peaked with Rev. Kong Hee giving the keynote message on releasing creativity into the world.
Competitions at KL Emerge included a singing competition, Talentime, and parades for both sexes, Manhunt and Beauty Pageant — each provided a platform for the youth in Malaysia to showcase their God-given talents.
On the second night of the conference, the South African High Commissioner to Singapore, Her Excellency Ms Zanele Makina shared her testimony. The audience was greatly impacted by how she shone for God in the area of politics. The presence of God was tangible, and many youths felt the call to study hard and become an “influencer” in society.
The conference came to a climax on the final night with the grand finale of all the competitions. Renowned celebrity, Fung Bo Bo shared her story of how God came into her life. Pastor Kong ministered powerfully in the word and many church leaders, full-time workers and celebrities received an impartation. It was an awesome night — many lives were touched and transformed.
