One of the only two female winners in a list of 17 outstanding candidates, Valerie Tan, managing director of Pinnacle International, received The Entrepreneur of the Year Award together with 16 other CEOs and directors from famous enterprises such as ThaiExpress and Charles & Keith.
The oldest of Awards for Entrepreneurship in Singapore, The Entrepreneur of the Year (A Rotary-ASME Award), seeks to celebrate entrepreneurs who have built up successful and dynamic business ventures.
Inaugurated in 1989 by the Rotary Club of Singapore, the award has become an opportunity for deserving entrepreneurs to be showcased on a national platform.
The rigorous judging process further ensures that recipients of this extremely prestigious award are the crème de la crème of the business fraternity.
With over 200 staff in an extensive network of more than 50 countries, it is hard to imagine that Tan kick-started the business in 1996 with just five staff members. However, despite her accomplishments, Tan remains unassuming.
“It has never crossed my mind to be rewarded in any way,” says Tan, “I’m satisfied as long as my business is contributing to the automobile industry.”
One can most certainly expect Pinnacle International, Asia’s fastest growing group in the automotive industry, to continue going from strength to strength under Tan’s capable leadership.
