SINGAPORE, 20 NOVEMBER 2008 — The elective run by City Harvest Church’s (CHC) Sound and Media Ministry met with overwhelming response. About 10 minutes before the session started, the room was already packed to the rafters.
The speakers for the event were William Ng, the head of the Sound Ministry, and He Fengling, the head of Media Ministry. Many of the attendees of this elective were foreign delegates who desired to increase the standard of the sound and media ministries of their own churches.
The speakers focused on the core values and the main activities of the ministry, zooming in on the soft skills more than technical matters.

Great emphasis was placed on building a solid team of volunteers who are committed to serve the church’s vision and who are connected to the heartbeat of the church. Ng and He shared their personal experiences serving in the ministry. They started with no technical knowledge on sound and media but with a willing heart, they were able to grasp the relevant skills needed to serve.
The Q&A session proved to be a riproaring session, with foreign delegates furiously bombarding the two speakers with many questions about everything from the technical aspects to the people management aspect of the ministry. The session ended with a piece of advice from Ng and He: “Skill levels in ministry must grow, and we must be daring to try new things because the latter generation must do greater works than what we have accomplished so far.”
