It was a Saturday night and as usual I went for my music class at Outram Park. Jaden waited for me at Outram Park Mrt. We were supposed to meet for a drink. That day was my vocal exam, and it dragged on for almost an hour. Soon it started drizzling and then it rained heavily. Jaden ran to took cover and he just dashed under the nearest shophouse. At that moment, my exam just ended and I was walking down the stairs with my friends, and there I saw Jaden. It was such a coincidence as he has really no idea where my music school was located. I was really surprised to see him. I truly believe it is fate and its God’s plan to place him in my life.
Jaden was a very shy, reserved and pessimistic guy. From young, he has no friends and was always a loner, dwelling in his own little world and shunned away from reality. His negative thoughts thus made him look down on himself, having a low self-esteem and seriously lacking confidence.
I was a very bubbly and lively girl. However, I have been living in the shadow of my past due to bad experiences in relationships; I was struggling to step out and was yearning to be set free. I met Jaden at the right time, right moment and at the right place. God send Jaden to me for a reason and purpose. I tried very hard to break free and finally I was able to open up my heart to accept him and love him for who he is. God never fails to open up my eyes to see love in a different perspective. It is only when 2 persons with totally different personality, thinking and background are able to love each other despite everything, it becomes true love.
On 12 Feb 2008, while eating at KFC, out of a sudden, Jaden gently stroke the cut on my hand with his still oily fingers and slowly grasped my hands softly but firmly. Our eyes met and we smiled with a tinge of embarrassment and without talking, we continued eating with the chicken on one hand, and the other hand tightly holding each other, like as though we would never let go. We went to Takashimaya and Jaden bought a love token for me. It was a Snoopy soft toy with the words LOVE on it. It was the start of our courtship.
On 3rd august 2008, Jaden and I went to the Singapore Flyer. We dined at Japaleno cafe, and there he requested for me to close my eyes. He took out a heart shaped box, slowly I untie the ribbons and took out 5 boxes in total, at the last and also the smallest box, and there was a cute little teddy bear. And to my surprise, on the teddy’s bear foot, there was a ring engraved with his name Jaden Tan on it! His ring had my name engraved on it. Jaden bought couple rings for us! With his face flushing red, he popped the question if I could officially be his girlfriend. I said yes and we helped each other to wear the rings. After lunch, we went up the Singapore Flyer. It was a magnificent sight and words can’t describe how I felt being with the person I love at the top of the world. After that Jaden sent me home, and we sat at the playground near my house. It was a peaceful and windy evening. I was feeling rather blissful in the arms of my loved one. Jaden suddenly swept me off my feet and carried me round the playground. I was taken aback and I screamed for him to put me down but he simply refused. He said he won’t let me fall and he hoped to carry me in his arms forever, never letting go. And there he carried me 3 rounds the playground, ignoring the stares of onlookers. With the wind blowing on our faces and making our hair messy, I wished time would just stopped right there and we would never be separated.
Now, Jaden has become more confident and bold, he has stepped out of his shell and has become more talkative and brave to try out new things that he was afraid to do in the past. He is not good in art and has no creativity. However, on my birthday he made a gift that touched me very much. It was an artwork of photos that formed a heart shaped collage. I could see he had put in a lot of hard work and effort. I was so moved when he gave me the gift at the waterfall at Millennia Walk. I am truly proud of him, of what he has become and from the bottom of my heart, I love you Jaden dear, you can count on me to support, encourage, care and love you for an entire lifetime.
