Pizza. Not exactly an entry in the dictionary of “healthy foods”.
Here’s good news: Skinny Pizza probably the closest to “healthy” you can get while satisfying your pizza craving. Granted, it’s no competition for a saintly green salad, its crust is so light and thin and … well healthy-tasting, you’d think you were eating a poppadum dressed in pizza toppings. Add to that the generous covering of arugula leaves on every Skinny Pizza, and you’ll be feeling so virtuous because you can let Mom know you haven’t skipped your veggie intake.
But all skinny thinking aside, Skinny Pizza serves up some truly wonderful gourmet pizzas.
Their Wild Truffled Mushroom pizza features chunks of marinated Portobello mushrooms that are practically blooming off the crust. One would think they’re growing these in their backyard, the way they pile it on their pizzas.
The pizza comes covered in good strong aged Parmesan cheese too.
The Salami and Pesto pizza is another divine concoction: Very roasted Italian peppers accompanied with goat cheese and basil leaves make a perfect match. Their other unique creations such as the thick and creamy Parsnip Veloute and the rich Sweet Corn Crab are as delicious as they are original.
One thing not to be missed is their exquisite truffle fries. The fried potato carries the subtle but distinct hint of truffle oil — a touch of class to the humble French fry.
If there is one thing not to order at this otherwise wonderful place, it’s the Curry Chicken Babaganohsh. This Asian twist to the pizza turns out to be an awkward marriage, and the chef’s overly heavy hand with the strong spices does nothing for it.
