Satiate your inner carnivore with a new steakhouse in town.

A churrascaria, or Brazilian steakhouse, is not something new to the local dining scene, but Senor Santos Brazilian Churrascaria and Bar sets itself apart with an open grill concept where diners can look into a glass cubicle and watch the juices drip off rotating skewers of meat—it’s a visual appetizer that will rival any tapas spread.
The interior is warm and cosy, illuminated with over-hanging light bulbs. Dark wood furniture lends a rugged, handsome feel to the setting. Part of the walls and ceilings are accented by square wood panels of red, white, green and yellow, injecting a splash of Brazilian national colors to an otherwise earthy theme.
As with other churrascarias, ordering your food is a very straight-forward affair. Food is served buffet-style, and diners cue for roaming passadors (professional meat carvers) using green or red coaster cards placed on each table—green signals “more meat, please” while red indicates “I’m stopping for now.” The passadors move around the restaurant, carving and serving a variety of grilled meats such as beef sirloin and the tenderloin, alongside leg of lamb, lamb fillet, chicken, chicken wrapped in beef, chicken wrapped in bacon, chicken heart, chicken thigh, fish fillet and turkey ham. Ask for the beef hump if you are craving for fattier portions that will melt in your mouth. If not, the beef rump cap is the leanest of them all. The fish fillet is a particular favorite.
To balance all that meaty indulgence, there is a salad bar with a wide selection of pasta, beans and Brazilian side dishes. Stand-out varieties are the cauliflower gratin, cherry tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella and the jambalaya, a rice dish similar to the Spanish paella. Wash it all down with a caiphrinha, Brazil’s signature rum-based cocktail mixed with lemon or lime. Although the Samba Boys have disappointed at this year’s World Cup outing, Senor Santos will not. The buffet is priced at S$39.80, and the salad bar buffet at S$25.
