Prayer is an integral part of City Harvest Church. In addition to the pre-service prayer meetings held every week, CHC once again entered a week of intensive prayer from Aug. 16 to 22.
The Week of Prayer was implemented in June 2008. During the prayer week, CHC pastors lead the prayer meetings for an hour in the morning at 7 a.m. in three venues: Jurong West St. 91, The Riverwalk, and Heart of God Church in Paya Lebar. In the evenings at 6 p.m., the prayer meetings are held at Jurong West and The Riverwalk.
Believing that there is power in unity and agreement, members gathered to pray for the church. On the first day alone, all three venues were packed with people at 7 a.m. in the morning. Even in the evenings at 6 p.m., the Riverwalk premises were filled with adults and students alike who had come after work or school to intercede for the church.
Prayer items ranged from intercession for the church in general, to specific issues such as for marriages to be strengthened, and singles to find life partners, among others.
Carol Chia, 28, a freelance actress, quips, “It’s important to pray. The power of God is incredibly tangible at these prayer meetings. I believe that great things will happen when we pray.”
If the throngs of people that crowded The Riverwalk and Jurong West St. 91 this past week were any indication, God is indeed raising for Himself a church of praying people, to prepare themselves for the next level of growth and breakthrough.
