On the last Sunday of October, the City Harvest Chinese Church welcomed Abraham Ku from Taiwan at their service. Ku is the senior pastor of New Life Church in Taipei and is a familiar figure to the Chinese congregation, having visited CHC three times in 2010 alone—twice to preach in the Chinese Church and the third time to attend his son’s graduation at CHC’s School Of Theology in August.
In this trip, Ku and his wife, Lin Liu Mei, took time to attend the Saturday English service at the Singapore Expo. During the service, CHC’s senior pastor, Kong Hee, invited the couple on stage whereby they exhorted the congregation to stand strong in God despite challenges and that their church in Taipei would be praying for the leadership and members of CHC.
The following day, Ku preached on the significance of the resurrection of Christ on a believer’s life. He explained that believing in God means the believer believes in His character, His existence and the very nature of God. The resurrection represents the power of the work of God which is evident throughout the Bible in the Old Testament, New Testament and within the Church.
Next, Ku touched on the power of the resurrection, which allows the believer to live a victorious Christian life. Thirdly, the resurrection of Christ appropriates the power of God to bring down the blessings of heaven into the life of the believer.
Shen Biyun, 45, a housewife, was blessed by the sermon and was affirmed to know that the resurrection of Christ demonstrated the power of creation and God’s full salvation to all believers.
Lynn Wong, a consulting manager, was equally impacted by the message. “Our Christian walk is all about our identity in Christ. The basic foundation, knowing who our God is, will lead us to our salvation, victory and reward in Christ,” she shared.
