Singapore’s budding film industry scores another first on the international arena with Raymond Delon Poh’s double win at the American International Film Festival 2010 for October.
As director, cinematographer and editor for his documentary short Haiti Earth Quake 2010, Poh clinched the “Best Documentary” and “Best Director” awards under the “Documentary Short” category.
These wins also place Poh in the running for the AIFF’s “Documentary Short Of The Year” award happening at the end of this year, which pits his work against the winners of the September and November awards.
The documentary was filmed over the two trips that Poh made to Haiti after the nation suffered devastating earthquakes at the beginning of this year. It captures the destruction wrought, and also the hope and spirit of the Haitians. Poh tags this experience as “an unforgettable chapter” as he experienced earthquakes and tremors while he was there.
