On Oct. 30, some 60 City Harvest Church members belonging to the Usher and Security ministries gathered for a table-tennis friendly match at the church’s Jurong West premises. More than just the competition, the gathering was also an opportunity for both ministries to come together and foster deeper friendships and encourage bonding outside church ministry time.
A total of 24 people took part in the competition which was organized by G11, one of the Usher Ministry cell groups. The match was marked by lots of laughter and cheers as the players pitted their table-tennis skills against one another. Eventually, Lawrence Lai and Soon Weijian from the Security Ministry beat their opponents, Bernard Chua and Tan Ruixiang from the Usher Ministry.
In spite of the outcome, the event was a great success as everyone had a good time. Tan shares, “Even though my team did not win at the finals, it doesn’t matter as it was really for the fun of it. I feel that this is a good start to getting everyone to work and bond together because both ministries always serve alongside each other but there isn’t much communication [outside of ministry time]. As such, I believe that we are able to build a stronger rapport with fellow ‘City Harvesters’ through such events.”
Besides table-tennis, the two dynamic ministries have also spearheaded an ongoing soccer challenge. Their first session took place at Fico De Turf on Nov. 7.
The Usher and Security ministries also wish to take this opportunity to invite all interested CHC members belonging to other ministries to join them for future sports challenges.
Events are conducted on a bi-monthly basis and details of the next outing and other activities will be updated via the group’s Facebook (wearegroupeleven) and Twitter (username:@g11coat) pages.
