Formed in February 2010 by a group of musicians in City Harvest Church’s Indonesian Service, 3PM launched their first album Unto You in May during the Church Growth International-Asia Conference 2010.
Recently, the band received news that their debut album was nominated for the Indonesian Gospel Music Awards. City News talks to 3PM and finds out more.
First of all, congratulations on being nominated for the IGMA. Were you expecting it?
No, we were not expecting this at all! We are new artists and have only toured a couple of cities in the second half of this year. Our main focus was to serve God and His people so we were quite surprised to be nominated against long-time players in the industry such as True Worshippers, Robert Lea, and Indonesian Idol, Mike Mohede.
Tell us more about this award.
The IGMA has been around for about six years and is probably the most recognized official award in the Indonesian gospel arena, the equivalent of America’s DOVE Awards. The IGMA strives to empower, equip and appreciate Indonesian gospel talents so that they can in turn be more exposed to a wider audience. In fact, secular labels in Indonesia are now signing on gospel artists and this somehow fits in to CHC’s vision in fulfilling the Cultural Mandate by shining for God outside the four walls of the church.
Share with us some significant encounters you’ve had during your tours abroad.
We were performing “Kasih Mu Bapa” (Father’s Love) at GPdI Elohim in Surabaya when a young girl came up to us with tears in her eyes. She shared with us that she felt the love of God through this song and was reassured of her future.
Another time, we performed at Cornerstone Church’s Indonesian community event in Singapore and the speaker for the night was well-known gospel singer in Indonesia, Ade Manuhutu. He talked about what an exemplary worship team should be like and after the meeting, someone came up to us and commented that we exemplified that message very well—we were so encouraged by that.
How can fans show their support and vote for 3PM?
