Catch six movies in 75 minutes. Yes, the Singapore Short Film Awards is back for the second time. It is presented by The Substation Moving Images and co-organized by Objectifs: Centre for Photography and Filmmaking, the Awards.
The films range from creepy to poignant and tongue-in-cheek—Scot Free tells the story of two French tourists find themselves in a more than surreal predicament as their seemingly boring trip in Singapore derails in a particular night of odd encounters. Cubik brings on the action sequences with a coming-of-age tale about a young woman who finds herself at odds with the life of her clan-leader father. Yet another, Acronym City, explores Singaporeans’ obsession with acronyms and the compulsive need for shortcuts. The winners will be announced on Mar. 6.
The Singapore Short Film Awards screenings will be held from Feb. 28 to Mar. 6 at The Substation Theatre (45 Armenian Street, +65 6337 7535). Free admission (donations welcome). Log on to www.substation.org/2SSFA for detailed screening schedule and more information.
