CHILDREN’S SEASON
The Singapore Art Museum is hosting its inaugural Children’s Season in May, introducing the young to contemporary art in an interactive, supportive and fun family environment. Walk into magical art gardens showcasing artist projects and artworks inspired by nature. There will also be artists’ workshops, short film screenings and activity sheets inspired by the artwork to enhance the children’s learning experience.
Date: May 14 to July 18

Admission: Usual exhibition admission charges apply. Free admission for children age 6 and below.
FOREST DAY WITH JANE GOODALL
A celebrity in her own right, Jane Goodall, the famous scientist, humanitarian, and conservationist, first traveled to Tanzania’s Gombe Stream to study a group of chimpanzees in 1960. Her landmark discoveries of chimpanzee behavior put her at the forefront of the industry. Today, Dr. Goodall travels over 300 days a year to spread a worldwide message of hope: let us act appropriately to make the planet a more habitable and harmonious place for both people and animals. To commemorate the International Year of Forests, she will be in Singapore to talk about what she knows best: animals and forests.

LITTLE SOLDIERS
Why wait till NS? Let your kids experience army training in this program specially adapted for children, where they can have fun setting off on a mission to learn about the basic drill commands and field signals. It’s the whole package—they get to dress up in mini uniforms (complete with face painting), and play with remote-controlled tanks and more.
Date: May 28 to June 26 (weekends only)
Time: 10 a.m to 5:30 p.m.

ZOOLYMPIX
This outdoor, Amazing Race-style challenge will see contestants racing their way through six adrenaline pumping stations scattered around the rainforest-themed zoo to score points. All participants who complete the challenges stand to win attractive lucky draw prizes including Wildlife Unlimited Memberships and Wildlife Reserves Singapore gift vouchers. Fringe activities include face-painting, DIY pebble painting and animal appearances, for those more inclined to take it easy.

Admission: S$2 for Zoolympix passport. Normal admission rates apply. Recommended for ages 4 to 12.
ICE-SKATING EXPOSURE
Cap the holidays with an icy blast at this fun-filled ice-skating workshop. There will a 30-minute introductory lesson by experienced instructors where children will learn the basics—from training their balance to co-ordination
and physical strength.
Parents are encouraged to participate together with their children, at a discounted rate of S$20 per person for two hours.

THE SIMPLY SOFA HUNT 2011
Treasure hunts are always fun—even when the “treasure” in question is a … sofa. Sign up for Focus on the Family Singapore’s Simply Sofa Hunt 2011. Families follow clues and go in search of five sofas at various locations, take a creative family photo on the sofas, and submit their best shot for a photo competition. Prizes include a brand new sofa and a night’s stay for the family at Conrad Centennial Singapore. Categories: Most Creative, Most Candid, Most Coordinated and Biggest Family.
