City Harvest Church cell group leaders, under the care of district pastor Goh Yock Kiang, took some time out to embark on a relaxing Sunday outing to Johor Bahru, Malaysia on May 22. The trip took them to Kota Tinggi Waterfall and Jusco Tebrau City Shopping Centre.
The Kota Tinggi Waterfall is renowned for its beautiful, tropical flora and fauna. Water cascading down the slopes of Gunung Muntahak from a height of 34m flows into three natural swimming pools.
The unbearable heat kept many of the leaders under the shady trees, applying sunscreen. However, games coordinator Johnson Hay succeeded in rallying everyone out into the sun, forming teams. The first game required participants to run to and fro obtaining pieces to complete a 100-piece puzzle. The second game required team members to get wet as they collected water to fill the balloons they were given. By this time, screams of laughter and cheers could be heard from afar off. Goh joined in all the fun and was one of the first to jump into the water.
After the games, the group of 64 headed back to the city for a sumptuous seafood lunch and then, shopping.
“The trip to JB allowed me to get to know my fellow leaders better in one day than I would have in months!” laughed Gerald Wong, 21, a youth cell group leader. “The most interesting thing for me was observing how the leaders can withstand trials and fire in their ministry, but cannot stand in the sun for more than a minute!”
