In searching to bring about a confluence of the ever-modern direction of the church with its deeply spiritual roots borne out from a simple adoration of the Almighty, the inspiration for the new stage design was drawn from a core doctrinal truth of the Christian faith—the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Defying conventional design, the fluid composition encompassed the age-old theology of the Trinity within a modern interpretation, an appropriate representation of City Harvest Church’s ideals to be simultaneously reverent and relevant.
The thoughtful ensemble of elements within the structure was conceptualized as a symbolic focal point that represents the relationship between believers and the Trinity. Evoking the impression of the Trinity are the three biomorphic forms elevated prominently above the central section of the structure, aptly baptized “wings” by churchgoers upon first view of the stage.
As the chief feature of the design, this triad of sweeping white forms that seem to vault out toward the congregation are icons of the Trinity’s covering and presence over our lives as individuals and as a corporate spiritual family in a strong local church.
On obvious display as another key detail of the design is the LED facade that spans the entire length of the stage, presenting churchgoers with a dais that combines practical function with an aesthetically-innovative form.
Beyond the technological sophistication it represents, the wall of LED panels figuratively signifies the canvas of our lives upon which we have given God full access to paint upon, decorating our existence with the most vibrant of colors and creations that far exceed what we could even think of or imagine.
The succession of rhythmic curves found on the alabaster-white platform and the overhead wings that wrap around the angular lines of the LED facade bring to mind the river of God’s anointing as it flows into our lives, performing a transformative work within us, empowering us with His grace and enabling us to spread our wings wide and soar.
