Fathers were the stars of the day at a COPE outing on June 25. The organization, which supports elderly persons in need, gathered 240 of its beneficiaries for an outing to experience the Suntec Fountain of Wealth, followed by a porridge buffet lunch at Joaquim Restaurant at Suntec Singapore. The day’s highlight was a competition for the fathers in the group: they had to share their stories and how they contributed to their families’ lives, and the best three stories won the participants a Nikon digital camera. One winner told of how he worked three jobs to support his family and to make ends meet. He also had to deal with his own medical expenses. Today he is enjoying the fruits of his labor of love, now that his children have grown up. This was a joyful—and rare—celebration of fathers that sent the beneficiaries home happy.
