Leigh Nash, the dynamic, angelic-voiced lead singer of the platinum-selling American pop group Sixpence None the Richer, crosses over to the contemporary Christian music charts with her newly recorded album, Hymns & Sacred Songs. It will be released by Kingsway on Nov. 14.
“I am so very thankful for the opportunity to sing these words and even get to infuse some of them with new melodies,” says Nash. “It is a gift above any I can presently think of, to sing to my God! The musicians, producer and engineers are all so gifted and the songs so rich in word and melody that my feet were dancing and my heart was constantly lifted throughout the recording of this record! I pray you will have the same symptoms!”
As suggested by the title, the album is filled with timeless lyrics of hymns by Charles Wesley, Fanny Crosby and other classic writers, but with a fresh interpretation by Nash. Her uplifting vocals, coupled with new melodies, help present the hymns in a way that relates to the younger generation while retaining the songs’ melodic familiarity for older listeners. The entire album brings the listener into a time of deep worship through songs like “Power Of The Cross”, “Out Of My Bondage” and “Give Myself To You”.
This is the first of three albums that will be produced by Nash through Kingsway.
Hymns & Sacred Songs is available from www.kingswayshop.com, iTunes or your local Christian bookshops.
