The glory of young men (and women) is their strength, says Proverbs 20:29. Emerge 2016 sees a whole list of competitions for the young people to test their strength in many areas.
A key highlight of Emerge, City Harvest Church’s youth movement, is the annual “festival” of competitions and activities leading up to the big weekend in early July.

EMERGE SPORTS
Emerge is looking for the sportiest youth in CHC through its soccer, Captain’s Ball and basketball competitions. Pick a game and flex some muscles.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS
If music were an expression of the soul, then worship is the expression of a Christian’s devotion to God. Emerge wants to give CHC’s young people a chance to realize their talent of ministering through music. Form a band and join the battle.

EMERGE’S GOT TALENT
Your talent is in your choice, says renowned actress Stella Adler. Emerge gives a platform to young people who love to perform, and seeks to find the most talented among them. Join as an individual or gather a few friends and do your thing together.

EMERGE’S BRAINIEST YOUTH
Emerge is looking for that young person who can memorize facts and retrieve it from his memory in a split second. Prove the size of your brain by answering a list of questions based on a given set of articles on topics like Language, Science, Mathematics, History, Geography and General Knowledge.

HEROES OF FAITH
The Bible and its heroes proffer some good advice on doing life. He (or she) who reads, memorizes and internalises the Word is wise. Emerge seeks out the youth who has all his Bible knowledge at his fingertips.

Finals: Jul 8 – 10
Preliminaries have been held at cell group level.
PREACHING CHALLENGE
Preaching is not just an art, it is a anointing. Emerge is looking for a group of youth with that anointing. Participants need to preach an original three-minute sermon based on a recent rhema word they received from God, or based on the Scripture they have been meditating on. Top four contestants in each category will proceed to the finals.

SOCIAL MEDIA SENSATION
Think Sungha Jung, Tosh Zhang… but not Amos Yee. Do something spectacular or funny, record it on your phone and upload your clip onto Instagram, tagged #60secondsofEMERGE. That is all it takes to join Emerge’s social media challenge.

CALLIGRAPHY CHALLENGE
Emerge gives youth who love modern calligraphy a chance to flaunt their brush gong fu in a battle of ink. Top eight winning pieces will be printed on postcards for sale in the month of June and July. All sales proceeds will go towards City Harvest Community Services Association.

TESTIMONY MOVEMENT
