This Father’s Day, we invited City Harvest Church members to write a letter to their fathers to express their love and appreciation for the first man in their lives. We received many touching, funny, memorable entries, and here are the two winning dedications. In addition, we have selected some great entries that touched our hearts.
Winning entry for Saturday service:
“MY PAPA, MY BEST FRIEND”
By Ashwinnie d/o Vasagam
“To my Papa in heaven, you weren’t just a father to me but also my best friend. The one that annoys me a lot but still loves me and puts me first before anyone else. You had sacrificed a lot for our family and I will never forget how far you would go just to make sure we were okay—even though it meant putting your health at risk. I miss the times when we had our late night conversation while I was drinking my teh peng and you had your Guinness stout just to avoid Mama’s nagging … haha. I still keep this photo in my card holder because that’s how much you mean to me. Happy Papa’s Day in heaven Papa, I miss you ❤️.”
Winning entry for Sunday service:
“TO THE FIRST MAN I LOVED”
By Diana Lim
“Dear Daddy, you never cry.
But after so many years, I’ll always remember you crying while carrying me after I fainted at 15.
You loved me when I was young.
You always worry. And after so many years, you would still ask me to not stay out late, when I’m out with my friends at the age of 27.
You love me now when I am older.
To the first man I loved and to the man who first loved me,
The one who bought me my first diamond,
The one whose hands I’ll hold at 7 or 27,
Happy Father’s Day!”
WORDS OF LOVE TO DAD
