At the last Early Morning and Late Night prayer meetings, many City Harvest Church members who sent in prayer requests had their prayers answered. City News shares some of their testimonies.
“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” This was the prayer of King David in Psalm 5:3. Like the king of Israel, a few times a year, members of City Harvest Church gather during the churchwide early morning and late night prayer meetings to seek God and bring their requests before Him.
In the last early morning and late night prayer meetings held on the weekdays between February 28 to March 11, over 25,000 people came together online to pray. Many of them wrote to CHC after receiving their breakthroughs.
JEHOVAH JIREH, MY PROVIDER
Herlina Yip wrote, “I attended Monday night’s prayer meeting, and my prayer request was to receive a signed contract from my client the following day (1 Mar). On Tue morning, I followed up with the client and she said that they were still pending a few levels of approvals. But at 4 pm that day, I received the signed contract! Praise the Lord and thanks for the prayers!”
Another attendee Genevie shared that she attended the prayer meetings to ask God for wisdom in her career. “During the meetings, I could reflect on my feelings and face my vulnerabilities. I realised it is okay to feel vulnerable because I don’t know my future. But I know God does and His plan for me is to prosper, and be His light in this marketplace.
“Praise God, last Friday, I received an offer and on Tuesday, I accepted the job offer. In Jan 2022, I just received an increment, and I will be getting another increase with this new job! Also, my new office will be in Suntec where our church is. I am happy to be so close to church and the location is closer to my home compared to my current office. I am really thankful for God’s blessings in my career and finances.”
JEHOVAH RAPHA, MY HEALER
Salma Bernard from Mumbai shared his father’s healing testimony. “My dad, Mr Rafat Ali, is in ICU for internal bleeding and kidney-related issues being on dialysis. My friend sent in a prayer request for my dad on Tuesday night. That day, the doctors didn’t know the cause of the bleeding. I also joined in the prayer meeting, believing for a miracle.
“After the prayer meeting, the doctors found out my father had ulcers that were causing the bleeding. Last night, Pastor Kong prayed for him specifically. Today, the doctors said, ‘His health is turning around!’ Praise the Lord! I am so blessed to be joined in faith with all the intercessors in CHC and many others.”
Luciana wrote, “Thank you for praying for Aunty Anita last Friday. She was in critical condition with a brain haemorrhage. Praise the Lord, she has regained consciousness! We are now praying and believing for the bleeding to stop completely in Jesus’ name.”
Pastor Tanaka from Kurume Shalom Church shared that he had been having severe knee pain for the past year. “The pain was caused by side effects of my medication. Usually, when I go out, my knee would start to hurt in less than five minutes, and I would walk with a limp.
“Thank you so much for praying for my healing last week. Yesterday I realised that there was no more knee pain! To ensure my healing, I walked and also even ran up a slope! And there is no pain at all!”
JEHOVAH NISSI, MY BANNER
Joseph Chin wrote, “On Tuesday night’s prayer meeting, Pastor Kong (Hee, CHC’s senior pastor) and Sun (CHC’s executive pastor) shared their testimony about (their son) Dayan’s lost luggage during their family vacation and the subsequent miracle of it being founded in the airport with its contents intact. On that same night. I found out my Mum had lost her phone when she was out earlier in the afternoon and I was inspired to say a short prayer for her.
“My mum received news the next morning that her phone had been found and kept by supermarket staff. It was left untouched at its last seen location despite of all the human traffic around the payment area. Praise the Lord!”
Justinn shared that the two weeks before the prayer meeting had been very challenging. “My family members came down with Covid, one after another. This week alone, three adults and my son tested positive.
“Since last week, I have been doing all the household chores, cooking and at the same time, managing my studies and work. I tried to squeeze some time to join the night prayer meeting every night.
“Last night, Pastor Kong and Sun shared about surrendering to the Lord, that it’s okay to be weak. I had been telling myself that I need to be strong for my family and that they need me, and I was starting to feel exhausted physically and mentally. After hearing what Sun said—that it’s okay to be weak because God will be strong in us—I felt God speak to me. I prayed and worshipped, and I feel my burden has been lifted. I don’t feel the heaviness and tiredness—I feel my strength has been renewed! Praise the Lord!”
JEHOVAH SHALOM, MY PEACE
Abby shared that she experienced a breakthrough in her spirit after a prayer meeting. “My mum needed heart surgery and there was a risk of complications. Last week, my children tested positive for Covid, and the rest of my family started falling sick, one by one. I felt so weak and tired. My faith was waning, I was tired of believing.
“I sent in my prayer request to the prayer meeting IC. When Pastor Kong prayed for healing, he mentioned my name and I felt the heaviness and the cough I had leave my body.
“Last night, I had many nightmares, filled with fear and darkness. Today, I submitted my prayer request and Pastor Kong prayed and mentioned my name again. I felt there was penetration of power and light. The darkness that covered me was torn down, I felt faith arise in me—the garment of praise fell on me. Truly the prayer of the righteous avails much!”
Jess wrote that she enjoyed all the prayer meetings and they strengthened her. “I am suffering from an anxiety disorder, I feel tense all the time and I can’t sleep at night,” she wrote.
“I have been attending all the morning and night prayer meetings for the last few days. At one of the prayer meetings, Pastor prayed for those with mental illness. I saw myself in a dark pit and I saw a bright light as he prayed for us. Since then, I have no more insomnia! I am so thankful, and I am so renewed and refreshed even though I am doing shift work as a nurse.”
Edwin said that he had developed insomnia two weeks before the prayer meeting. “I went to the doctor for sleeping pills, but even that couldn’t help me with sleeping. Most of the days, I was sleeping less than four hours due to financial stress and uncertainty.
“I attended both morning and night prayer meetings. On Wednesday morning, I submitted a prayer request for my insomnia. That night, after the prayer meeting, I found myself sleeping straight through the night. This happened again on Thursday! I woke up feeling super refreshed without using any pills. This feeling was indescribable—I hadn’t had such a good sleep in a really long time! Praise the Lord!”
