Looking good starts with the right attitude.
“For the LORD does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” Unfortunately, 1 Samuel 16:7 is a verse often used as an excuse not to look good. But just because God looks at your heart doesn’t mean He’s not looking at the rest of you. Some of us fail to understand how important our outward appearances are—you are the temple of God; does the temple need some major renovation?
While looks aren’t everything, it certainly doesn’t hurt to have an image that’s easy on the eyes. First impressions always count, so why not give a good one? Fortunately, being good-looking is not about being born that way. It’s about appreciating and emphasizing your best features.
There is no guarantee that following these steps will turn you into Brangelina, but it will definitely make you look better and feel better about yourself.

1. Start from within
• Be healthy. People who look healthy look good. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we need to stay healthy, so that we can take better care of our family, serve God in our ministries and give our best at work. Begin with the basics: Drink more water, eat healthy, and be disciplined to exercise regularly at least two or three times a week.
• Be confident. Your self-esteem really does affect the way you look. It changes the way you carry yourself. People who are confident (not proud or arrogant) get noticed.
• Be a good person. Develop a strong character that will match your good looks. When you are humble and honest, you give people more to appreciate.
2. Be hygienic.
Keep up with your physical maintenance. Make it a habit to be well-groomed on a daily basis. Pay attention to the following details:
• Cleanliness Shower daily, and wash your hands regularly.
• Scent Wear an anti-perspirant to keep body odor at bay; wear cologne or perfume, if you wish.
• Nails Men, keep them trimmed and clean; for the ladies, if you have long fingernails, keep them shaped and painted, or at least buffed.
• Skin Wear sunblock; apply lotion daily to keep your skin soft.
• Hands Apply lotion every time you wash your hands to keep them soft and smooth.
• Feet Apply lotion after taking a shower; keep them clean to prevent foot odor.
• Teeth Brush at least twice a day, especially after drinking coffee or smoking. Avoid smoking: it is bad for both health and looks (it causes wrinkles and yellowed teeth). Floss often, visit the dentist regularly, and whiten your teeth if necessary.
• Hair Keep it neat and clean. Guys, visit the barber at least once a month. Ladies, head to the hair salon maybe once every couple of months. If you have unwanted body hair, then consider shaving or waxing it.
3. Be distinct.
As human beings, we gravitate towards what is rare and unique because God created everyone different. Emphasize the things that make you unique, whether it’s your hair, your height, your shape, your eyes, your personality and so on. Let your appearance reflect your unique personality.
4. Dress well.
Take the time to pick out clothes that you feel comfortable in, and that make you feel good when you look at yourself in the mirror. Don’t get obsessed with clothing, or trying to keep up with fashion trends—not everything that is fashionable or in trend suits everyone. The key is to find outfits that look good on you, suit your body shape and your way of life. Don’t dress like you just rolled out of bed. Show people that you care about your appearance.
5. Smile.
Don’t walk around all the time with a frown or even a neutral expression on your face. Just a little smile will make you instantly more attractive.
