In Her Blood
When ex-model Kenny Santika married her husband 13 years ago, she gave up a burgeoning modeling career in Indonesia and settled down in Singapore. With her perfect oval-shaped face and lovely, seemingly pan-Asian features, it was only a matter of time before she found herself in the limelight again.
The svelte homemaker was crowned Mrs. Singapore World 2010 on March 27, after she was already sitting pretty on two other titles, namely Mrs. Congeniality and Mrs. Personality.
Says her husband, Kevin Lau, whom she met in Singapore while on a job assignment at a fashion show for an Indonesian designer, “We both felt it was a good opportunity for Kenny to make use of what God has blessed her with, not just to win a title to be proud of, but to use it as a platform to reach out to the community at large.”
Having joined CityCare Limited, a local humanitarian organization last year as a volunteer, she has helped out by spending time with elderly citizens and facilitating entrepreneurship camps for children, among others.
An avid lifelong learner, she enjoys reading books on self-improvement, ballroom dancing with her husband, and learning new skills. Most recently, she took up a first aid course—“You never know when it’ll come in useful.” Being comfortable with oneself, eating regularly and exercising are her beauty mantras. She will be going to South Korea in August to compete in the Mrs. World finals.
