At 94 years old, Reynaldo Creagh is probably the world’s oldest working singer. Widely considered as Cuba’s last remaining living legend, Reynaldo heads the cast of The Bar at Buena Vista – The Grandfathers of Cuban Music, a Cuban song and dance spectacle currently performing at Marina Bay Sands.
Against a stage setup reminiscent of a Havana Club downtown bar of the 40s and 50s, BABV pays homage to the Buena Vista neighbourhood, home to the famous quarter of Havana and Cuba’s music legends including Compay Segundo and Ruben Gonzalez.
Creagh stars alongside 86-year old legendary tres guitarist Maracaibo, a multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire from Vieja Trova Santiagera and one of Cuba’s most celebrated composers. They are joined by the 85-year old pianist Maestro Rubalcaba from the Afro-Cuban All Stars, who has been dubbed “The Hands of Gold” for his piano playing skills.
Together with Cuba’s original diva Siomara Avilla Valdes Lescay, these three legendary Cuban masters look set to bring down the house with a night of spicy salsa, infectious rhythms of tropical jazz and the magic of Cuban folk music.
