YouTube pop sensation, Jayesslee, shared their message of hope to fans in Malaysia.

More than 900 fans including 20 Singaporeans turned up at Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur to watch one of YouTube’s hottest girl duo, Jayesslee, perform live on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Jayesslee are 25-year-old twins Janice and Sonia Lee, Australian-born Koreans from Sydney, Australia, who achieved fame on Youtube with their mesmerizing vocals. Their Youtube channel currently has more than 250,000 subscribers and more than 39 million upload views.
Jayesslee was brought to Malaysia by event company Creative Central. Co-owner Shirley Boon, 30, tells City News, “I wanted to bring in Jayesslee because I believe in the message of hope they carry. They are not just performers but a duo who inspires others through their singing.”
The organizers also wanted to ensure that the concert fulfilled a social objective: a portion of the proceeds from the concert ticket sales were donated to the National Cancer Council Malaysia (otherwise known as MAKNA). It is a cause that is personally meaningful to the twins, who lost their mother to cancer when they were children.
The crowd at the concert—many of them high school and college students—were treated to 11 songs by Jayesslee, most of them acoustic, with a number that featured an electric guitarist.
Everyone loved the “girl next door” feel that the twins brought to their performance. Oo Sha Lin, 15, a high school student shared, “I super-liked the show from beginning to end, especially how Janice and Sonia interacted with the crowd.”

This despite the fact that performance was not hitch-free. At one point, Janice dropped her microphone, which caused an awkward silence on stage. Sonia broke the tension by teasing her twin about it, turning the whole situation around with her light-hearted humor. “That was actually my favorite part of the show. I think we all love the girls for their goofiness,” shared Jovy Gan, 30, an accounts and finance manager.
Daniel Lee, a wheelchair-bound student who celebrated his 20th birthday on the night of the concert had a life-changing experience. “It was the best birthday present I could ever receive. When Janice and Sonia shared the incredibly moving story of their mother’s battle with cancer, I realized that hope is contagious—I can also touch others by sharing my life story,” he said.
During their time in Malaysia, Jayesslee made appearances at local radio stations Red FM, Hitz.fm, BFM as well as on popular Malaysian TV shows, 8TV Nite Live and Quickie.
The sisters, who are Christians, also performed at City Harvest Church Kuala Lumpur during its Sunday service to a “standing room only” crowd of more than 3,500 people, making this the largest service attendance the church has seen so far.
Jayesslee sang two songs, and they shared their testimony after the main sermon, which centered on the topic of hope. At the end of the Sunday service, more than 150 people responded to the altar call.
When asked about her time in KL, Janice shared, “What happened in Malaysia was the epitome of our life calling. Seeing so many lives touched by our testimony encouraged us a lot. We really felt something special when we were there.”
At CHCKL, they signed autographs and took photographs with more than 500 fans after the service. “Looking at the response of the Malaysian fans, we are definitely bringing the twins back next year for an even bigger concert,” said Boon.
