Do give of your blood at CHCSA’s blood donation drive at Suntec Singapore next weekend.

Over the weekend of Feb.25 and 26, City Harvest Community Services Association will be holding its first blood donation drive of the year at Suntec Singapore, Hall 603. Come down between 11am and 4pm on Saturday or between 10am to 2pm on Sunday and donate your blood to save someone. All you need to bring with you is your passport or identity card.
If you are having a hard time trying to overcome the fear of needles, it may be good for you to know that donors have said that imagining the process is more frightening than it really is. Jeremey Jeevan, 17, a Republic Polytechnic student, used to be scared of syringes. He said, “I was surprised at the fact that donating blood was quite simple and that it didn’t hurt. It looked quite menacing when I saw the medical staff bringing out all those tubes and equipment, but the nurse reassured me and it turned out to be fine.”
Doctors explain that giving blood benefits the donor as well. It is a civilized form of bloodletting, an ancient medical practice of withdrawing considerable quantities of blood from a patient to cure or prevent illness and disease. When blood is withdrawn, the body naturally has to generate new blood and that helps the body feel more alive again.
