With a sermon based on the story the woman with an issue of blood, Malaysian preacher and missionary Rev. John Ng encouraged the elderly congregation to have faith in God’s healing power.
He was preaching to a congregation of 385 elderly persons at City Harvest Church’s Dialect Service on Sep. 23. Ng, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is known for his gifts in inner healing and counseling, intercession for the sick, healing and deliverance ministry.
In the past 22 years, Ng’s ministry has led him to preach at church services, evangelistic meetings, revival camps, conferences and seminars, even training sessions.
At CHC’s Dialect Service, Ng preached from Luke 8:43-48, using the familiar story of the woman with the issue of blood as an example of one with faith to receive healing. She had spent all her savings trying to find a cure for her illness but she could not get her healing till she met Jesus.
Ng taught five key lessons from this passage. First, the faith for healing was initiated by the woman. Second, her faith was seen in her action. Third, her faith brought the power of God for healing. Fourth, her faith testified of the goodness of God. Lastly, her faith led her to salvation.
At the end of the service, Ng gave an altar call for healing and faith arose in many seniors to receive healing. One of them, Goh Kim Yoke, 73, received healing for her bent legs, which has caused her to be in constant pain. Ng brought her onto the stage and said a prayer over her. After several tries, Goh stood up straight and could walk without pain.
Another congregant, Chen Ya Zhu, 71, experienced healing in her eyes and ears. She had been struggling with watery eyes and hearing problems for a long time. After a prayer was said for her, Chen felt that her vision had improved and she could hear more clearly than before.
Maria Tok, a zone supervisor in charge of the Dialect Service said, “This was the first time that Dialect Church had invited Rev. John Ng to share in our service. It was a challenging yet interesting experience for me as I had the privilege to interpret for him in Hokkien while he preached in Cantonese. Rev. Ng is a captivating and anointed preacher; he illustrated the Bible story on the woman with the issue of blood so vividly and applicably to the life of the members, who were mostly old and illiterate, and by doing that, he created an atmosphere of expectancy for healing.
“The presence of God during the ministry time was very strong. Besides the many healing miracles that happened, there were also members who were very touched by the love of God to the point of tears. After the service, two young volunteers also approached Rev. John and asked for prayer for their sickness—one of them had severe eczema and another had ‘short leg syndrome’. Both were ministered by the presence of God and kept weeping while they were being prayed for.”
Jesus told His disciples in Luke 10:9 to “…heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’” Indeed, the attendees of the Dialect Service saw a glimpse of heaven during service that day with John Ng.
