Members from City Harvest Church share their experiences of God’s healing power.

The Bible says in James 5:14-15, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up…”
This verse came alive for many members in City Harvest Church last year, as the church launched into a season of praying for the sick. Three members share their encounter with the healing power of Jesus.

Last year, I was diagnosed with Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, which is a disorder of the jaw joint. I experienced a prolonged sore pain in my jaws and when I opened and closed my mouth, I could hear a clicking sound. The doctor gave me medication and recommended that I wore a splint (mouth guard) at night when I slept.
I serve as a Back-up Vocalist in church, thus the need to constantly open and close my mouth. This caused my condition to worsen. I know that God has blessed me with the talent to sing and bless others with my voice–I have never once doubted this calling of God upon my life. However, when I was diagnosed with TMJ, I was very discouraged and feared that I would never be able to sing again. As a result, I took a break from the ministry and gradually lost sight of my dream.
The pain heightened to the point I could not even sing during praise and worship in cell group meetings. I could only whisper the words because it hurt to open my mouth too wide. At that point, I cried out to God in tears and heard the voice of God say to me, “The world needs your voice. I am not done with you, My child.” I felt assured and comforted thereafter, but the pain persisted. I decided to trust God for healing.
The miracle came when I attended the first of CHC’s 40-Week Friday All-Night Prayer Meeting with my cell group. The presence of God was so thick that evening. Before the meeting ended, Pastor Tan Ye Peng, asked those who wanted healing to go forward for a time of ministry. With tears in my eyes, I walked down to the front and was prayed for by Pastor Eileen Toh. The moment she placed both her hands on my jaws, I felt a jolt of electricity in my jaws. I wept uncontrollably in the presence of God.
After I left the meeting, my jaw felt slightly better. I continued to confess healing when I reached home, full of faith in my heart. The next morning when I woke up, I could barely feel the pain in my jaw! In fact, both the pain and the clicking sound had completely gone! I have been pain-free for the past seven weeks and I have even gone back to singing for Friday night prayer meetings.
Through this, I am reminded by God that it is not by my own might, but by His power and Spirit. I can only be His mouthpiece and depend on Him to sing.
The Friday Prayer Meetings have given City Harvest a chance to reach higher and pray deeper!
I have suffered from allergies since I was young. In recent years, my condition has worsened, especially on my hands. Occasionally I would even need to go for injections and take anti-allergy medication to ease the itch.
During the third week of CHC’s 40-Week Friday All-Night Prayer Meeting, there was a time of ministry to pray for healing. All these years as a Christian, I have the knowledge of Jesus as my Healer, but whenever the allergies came back, I would lose faith in that knowledge.
During the meeting, I began to exercise my faith and the authority that Jesus has given us to command my mountain of sickness to be cast into the sea. I claimed healing in Jesus’ name. That night after the prayer meeting, my hands did not show improvement. I went back home, as usual, and applied my medication. The next day, my hands began to show improvement and my rashes were completely gone within that week!
I decided to find out if I had really been healed—I ate the foods that I usually refrain from, such as chicken and seafood. Praise the Lord, the allergies did not come back! I am still praying and believing God for a complete healing from allergies. I believe that God is able to heal me completely!

Three weeks ago, the father of my cell group member, Clement, was diagnosed with a lump on his neck. His father was very down and pessimistic upon receiving the news. Apparently, his grandmother had consulted a fortune teller some 20 to 30 years ago and the fortune-teller predicted that Clement’s father would die around his current age. The father hence felt that there was a high chance that the lump was a cancerous tumor and he would die.
While Clement refused to believe in the prediction, he attended service that week with a heavy heart. His faith, however, was lifted up when he heard Pastor Kong Hee share about how believers can command creative miracles to happen. He went home and asked his father for permission to pray for him. He also told his father to speak positively about his condition continually until the day he received his medical results.
In October last year, Clement’s aunt got her pastors to share the gospel and pray for his father. At the end of the sharing, both his father and mother said the sinner’s prayer! The next week, his father went to the hospital for his medical results. The results showed that his tumor was benign!
