This statement was released by City Harvest Church on February 11, 2013.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
You may have heard about the request by the Commissioner of Charities for the nine suspended City Harvest Church pastors and members to voluntarily extend their suspension beyond the relevant one year period.
City Harvest Church was informed that the COC had requested for the nine to voluntarily extend their suspension until six months after the conclusion of the trial in court.
In connection with the COC’s powers under the Charities Act, the suspension of the nine began in June 2012, and is effective for a period of up to 12 months.
We understand that the nine have individually responded to the COC in consultation with their respective legal advisors. Some of them have voluntarily provided their consent on the basis of certain conditions, including that such consent was without admission of any liability and without prejudice to their rights or remedies in connection with the suspension.
It is a very challenging time for our nine suspended pastors, members, their families, and for our church. Let us continue to pray for them and for CHC. Let us remember what Dr AR Bernard has exhorted us to do:
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. (Rom. 12:12 ESV)
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Aries Zulkarnain
Executive Pastor
