The prosecution’s submissions today gave rise to long arguments over the importance of control, intention vs motive and the absence or presence of dishonest mens rea.

15 September 2016 – Summary of CHC hearing.
On the final day of appeals, all six appellants argued that criminal breach of trust had not been made out by the prosecution beyond a reasonable doubt, while the DPP presented his submissions for longer sentences.
In rounding up the appeal submissions for the six, lawyers for Tan Ye Peng and Serina Wee reiterated that at no point did their clients believe they were doing anything illegal or against the church’s best interests.
